Position Details
Position Title: Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Grade: EVP / SEVP
Nature of Employment: Contractual
Contract Duration: Initial period of five (05) years (extendable based on performance and organizational requirements)
Location: Head Office, Islamabad
This role reports directly to the top executive management and plays a strategic part in shaping the bank’s future through innovation and technology leadership.
Job Overview
The Chief Information Officer will be responsible for leading the Bank’s overall technology and digital strategy. The incumbent will oversee IT operations, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, infrastructure transformation, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that the bank’s technology landscape aligns with its long-term business objectives.
The CIO will also act as a key advisor to senior leadership on matters related to digital transformation, information security, technology governance, and emerging innovations in the financial technology space.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Experience
A minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience in information technology, digital transformation, enterprise systems, or related domains.
Demonstrated experience in delivering large-scale technology programs within reputable organizations.
Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing IT teams.
Strong understanding of banking technology systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
Candidates with prior experience in financial institutions or banking environments will be preferred.
Educational Qualification
Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an HEC-recognized national or international university/institution.
Higher qualifications (e.g., Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields) will be considered an added advantage.
Age Limit
Maximum age limit is 60 years as of the closing date of application submission.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Information Officer will be entrusted with a wide range of strategic and operational responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive IT and Digital Strategy aligned with the Bank’s overall business objectives.
Lead digital innovation initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can drive competitive advantage.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
Ensure full implementation of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulatory requirements related to IT governance and information security.
Establish and maintain robust Enterprise Technology Governance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with national and international cybersecurity standards.
Organizational Development
Build and lead a high-performing IT & Digital organization.
Develop succession planning and capacity-building strategies within the IT division.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Infrastructure & Transformation
Oversee transformation of IT infrastructure and service delivery models.
Modernize legacy systems and migrate to scalable, secure, and resilient platforms.
Ensure optimal performance and availability of banking systems.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Develop and implement comprehensive Cybersecurity frameworks.
Ensure implementation of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Monitor and mitigate IT-related risks effectively.
Vendor & Service Management
Manage IT service level agreements (SLAs) and vendor relationships.
Ensure cost-effective procurement of technology solutions.
Oversee third-party technology partnerships.
Employment Terms & Conditions
The position is purely contractual for an initial period of five years.
The contract may be extended based on satisfactory performance and organizational needs.
Compensation will be market-competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
